HGH and Anti-Aging: Is There Any Link?

It was found that when the human growth hormone was given to 12 men who were over the age of 60, each person showed a statistically significant increase in their bone mineral and muscle mass.
What's that have to do with antiaging? Well the scientists in the study pointed out the fact that changes of this caliber usually only occur over a 10 to 20 year aging period. Notice that they never said anything about the fact that HGH reversed the aging process. Thus one can only derive such a conclusion implicitly.
We are still unsure whether or not you can correlate these results with antiaging. In fact, many people contend that the study is misrepresented as proof that HGH is an anti-aging agent.
An effort was made to duplicate the study in 2007 at the Stanford University school of medicine. Here, the human growth hormone was administered to elderly patients who were in good health. The results were that lean muscle mass was again increased significantly, and body fat also decreased.
Unfortunately, there was nothing to support the evidence that it helped reverse the aging process. Also, there were no factors that would indicate an increase in fitness levels. Interestingly enough, the researchers concluded that while muscle mass had increased significantly, actual strength had not increased at all.
When testing muscle strength, the researchers found that it was still the same prior to the administering of HGH. How is this possible? The researchers contend that while muscle mass increased, the growth can be contributed only in the fact that the body was able to store more water in the muscles because of HGH. Thus while the muscle mass increased, the actual strength did not.
Perhaps where the link between HGH and anti aging occurs is in the fact that for some individuals, the use of HGH supplements helps reduce wrinkles in the skin, and improve skin tone and appearance.
